Dancing and movement are important parts of our curriculum.  Music encourages self expression and creativity.  In this picture the children are dancing to our days of the week and our seasons come and seasons go song. Ask your children to tell you the days of the week and have fun dancing along with them!

Pre-writing skills and writing skills are an important park of TK.   Journals are used as a form of introducing the children to writing with a meaning and a purpose. The children are seen here drawing some fall leaves.

La Tortuga is a great story from our Happily Ever After series.   The children are using scissor skills, and following oral directions to complete this activity.  An interest and a love for reading is something that we are striving for.  Learning proper book handling skills and comprehension of the story is a concept that you can practice at home with your children. When reading a story, encourage open ended questions and challenge them to recall the story and come up with their own alternate endings.

The world of TK revolves around learning social skills. Working cooperatively is an invaluable skill that will serve them throughout their academic years (and beyond.). Encourage problem solving and conflict negotiation skills in their everyday interactions (like group sports, play dates, etc.).  When conflicts arise, role playing and encouraging communication is a great way to promote self confidence.

Art and self expression go hand in hand.  We had a lot of fun creating these shape art projects.  Pumpkins, Witches and Frankenstein were a huge hit this week!  The children had fun reinforcing their shapes and creating these unique art projects.  Ask your children which one they liked the best and why?

We hope you have enjoyed our blog on just a few of the things that we learned in Room 3 this week.  Encouraging creativity, self expression, independence and a love for learning is something that we always strive for in TK.  Encourage activities that promote those qualities in your home.

Follow us next week as we continue our exploration of the wonderful, and exciting world of TK!

Halloween is just around the corner!!!
