We started our week on a 'high note' with music class! Every Monday our music teacher, Mr. Leslie, comes to share his musical talents with the class. The children always enjoy the songs he teaches them and this week was no different as he taught them "Pumpkin Jack" and "Spiders". Ask your children about the "Pumpkin Jack" song they learned with Mr. Leslie and make sure you sing along!
Using different mediums to bring new experiences to the children is a great way to capture their attention and to foster creativity and exploration. The children are seen here using rubber bands to create different geometric shapes on the pumpkins. To expand this job further, we will also be using golf tees. This center was very popular among the children. Try activities at home that use different materials to enhance everyday art activities.
We used our interactive white board to discuss the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin. We read a book and used our great classroom technology to keep them interested in learning about where, and how pumpkins grow.
We also showed them different kinds of pumpkins and discussed what you can do with them. The children were very excited and understood how you can make a Jack o Lanterns out of a pumpkin.
The children enjoyed their study buddy activities with our Kindergarten class. This week we had a visit from Fr. Riz and he shared stories about Jesus and sang "Open My Eyes Lord" and "Hail Mary Full of Grace".
We love having so much music in our class!
Thank You for bringing pumpkins this week. The children seemed to really enjoy decorating their own pumpkin. They really used their imagination and creativity as only SPCS students can!
We had a full and busy week in preparation for Halloween! We are excited and looking forward to next Tuesday. Please join us at drop off and pick up times for a special presentation. The children have been working on a special song that they would like to share with you, it will only take a few minutes and we would love for you to join us.
